Omaha Loving

Stayed up all last night and plowed through a full table of Omaha players on Betfair. By 8am this morning they had all disappeared and all lost except me and one other guy who won about £2000. The table was extremely loose. I was down £2500 at one point and finished with just short of £6000 in front of me. Considering the max sit down is £500 that is a monster stack. I also hit a Royal Flush which gave me a £300 bonus. Here were the three biggest pots I was involved in. I had started my end of month report yesterday... this result has helped no end for my February figures.

Hand 1

The first hand I took a major risk just calling with top set on the flop but it reaped dividends.

Hand 2

Here is a huge pot that I lost. He probably read me for the flush draw on the flop or a steal but he was pot committed once he had reraised me.

Hand 3

Amazingly he gave it all back and more on the very next hand. My call on the flop was loose. I had a big smile on my face when he called my river bet :-)

Congratulations. You played one of the ugliest hands imaginable, called a large bet on the flop with a horribly weak draw, and got lucky. You must be proud.

Miros.

Sure my play on this hand is very ugly. Its not even worth the making up the big blind with a hand like this. Assmuming my straights are good i only have 6 outs on the flop.

Sometimes you have to get a bit lucky though. I saw far worse suckouts than this in bigger pots against me and played nearly faultless poker for 10 hours.

Its worse that he raises with it though preflop. Also I dont like the flop call with KKK on the first hand either. As my own performances have shown, sometimes you get hit by the deck...but thinking you played well when you didnt can be a very fatal error, ultimately.

I'm not saying you do this...I don't know you well enough...but your posts sometimes have the flavour of "I won therefore I played good." I may be talking though my arse, just some well intentioned advice :)

My thinking with just calling with the KKK is that it disguises my hand well. Sure if a 9JQ or an A fall i am going to be in trouble but the way the table was playing it was very probably that the same player who was deep stacked would fire again on the turn if a blank came. As it happened another player did his dirty work for him.

I think i am the first to admit when i play badly. Way back on the 08 November i posted an average rating of my play online (4.65/10). Which shows more often that not that i was playing poorly regardless of my results. During this marathon session which lasted over 12 hours at the table that the majority of big decisions i made had a +EV.

I think we can agree you were on tilt in that last hand after suffering that outdraw?

Amazed you played for 12 hours on the trot. I'm lucky if I do 2 hours without wanting a long break.

Milkybarkid said...

Yes i definitely agree i was on tilt after losing that £2000+ pot.

I didn't even break for 10mins during the 12 hour session. By the time i had accumulated a £3000 stack players kept joining with £200 which was giving me a massive advantage.
