Run

Well my post about being bored and playing bad obviously did the trick. I didn't blog during the run, as i would obvious bok myself, but i managed to play from October 7th - November 3rd without having a losing day. Think i played on 21 of those days, i had a sick run back in 2006 but that must be a new record for me. I won just over $500,000 in the period ($400k at 50/100), i haven't even been at all tempted to play bigger which is good i think.....

I think towards the end of the year i'll set aside a decent amount to have a crack at bigger games, and see if i can have some ridiculous spin up.

Anyway if i break even for the rest of the year thats cool. Next years targets will be weird, as i'd probably settle for winning half what i've won this year. Or i could decide to stop being such a nit and play 200/400 :-)

How much $$ do you need for poker to become a leisure activity vs your primary source of living?

well done bennyboi! what about some interesting hands?

i know you havent been an outright pro for too long, but i still dont understand why you want to play even bigger unless a super good spot comes up. I wish i could auto pilot 25/50 50/100 and make 500k a year, let alone in 1 month. I remember Alec Torelli (online pro) saying he's now too old for 500k swings and he's mid 20's! Keep crushing while online poker is still there, early "reitrement" beckons?!

anyway gg + gl!

I think he's been a pro for like 4 years and playing alot longer...

I echo what the last guy said. You must be the biggest winner at omaha online at 25 50 and 50 100. Just carry on crushing.

Nice run! Any chance of posting an updated graph for 2008 and/or lifetime graph?

I’ll post some hands in my next update.

Eugene – Hmmm ideally i’d like to own a couple of houses, and have a decent chunk of money in the bank, then i could just play for fun :-)

I'll post a bunch of graphs in a couple of weeks.

Just Wow. Serious question here. I am a competant Omaha player. I made around $75000 for the last two years at 5/10 and 10/20, and i've recently sold my business to go full time. I live in Islington.

How much would you charge for two weeks lessons with me watching you play, plus a copy of all the hands from poker tracker that you have ever played? I think i'd be happy to pay a five figure sum that you may be interested in. I just sent you an email too. So make sure your look in junk mail if you have filters on.

Hi Ben,

I'd love to hear how you think about the game, and what ways you went about improving your game. Have you ever been approached by a coaching site, such as Cardrunners? Have you even ever watched a coaching video? What do you think of them? What part of your game sets you apart from other players, what do you do differently? Would you make a coaching video if asked?

Have you ever read a Well on 2+2? Would you consider doing one? It would be awesome, i'd love to hear about your approach to the game.

Hmmm i guess i just worked my way up the stakes and kept winning. I’d been playing PL Omaha in casino’s for about 6-8 years before I started playing online, and it just seemed easy to win online.

Since then I’ve probably played over 300,000 hands online at stakes 5/10 at above, so I’ve got better simply due to the huge number of hands I’ve played.

As for coaching. I’ve been approached by a few of the big coaching sites. It’s not something that really appeals to me. It’s quite time consuming, and what I’d get paid would be nowhere near my hourly rate for just playing poker. Plus I’d be giving away alot about my game, and it’s tough enough to win at high stakes without giving opponents extra information.

Yeh I’ve read a Well on 2+2, i’d probably do it if I was asked.

you never win just by being smart, there's always some luck into it. :)
