Mexico

Amazingly one of the first things i saw when i arrived here was an advert in a shop window for the Mexican series of poker. First prize was 25000 Pesos which if you have ever been here is alot of money.

I did forget to mention on my blog before i set off that my run on 21 consecutive wins on the Omaha tables came to a crashing halt in Barcelona. To be fair it was due and even in that session i was up to $10000 from $2000 and decided to play on..... i haven't played a hand of poker in about 12 days now which seems like a famine. I guess i could play a bit in one of the internet cafes but i rarely play well/properly if i am not fully focused. I have managed to read Super System 2 which i brought away with me already. I did enjoy learning about Triple Draw Lowball and all the other chapters contained some useful information.

I have just been looking on the Blondepoker forum and i see that the first proper event today was sold out with hundreds being turned away. I just can't see how these events are going to finish in two days.... be interesting to see how much prize money will be paid out of the entire event but it has to be well over $100 million... probably closer to $150 million. Hopefully at least one Brit will win a bracelet.

Right i am off to get a Corona.......

Ben,

Nice to see someone else taking an interest in Lowball....I think UB are the only major online firm with Triple Draw tables and they only usually fill up at low limits.

I can only agree with everything said on the blondepoker forum: Friday Night I played with a load of players who'd tried to get into the $1500 NLH and found it sold out. Only managed to find one who'd got in (and then busted out early). Worth mentioning that they extended it to 3 days from 2 - I can only presume they're going to have to do that with a whole bunch of the events. So get your registrations in early....except of course for the $5000 Lowball (now that you know how to play!) - a whopping 46 entries last year, so it might verge on nearly a hundred this! That's good odds of getting a bracelet!

What's all this Corona nonsense? You should be on the Tequila!

Lowball... hmmm very tempted if there is only going to be around 100 runners. I need a bit of practice online first i think.

Baz you know how much i despise Tequila...

Andrew - Good luck trying to qualify on Pokerstars. It really is going to be a mammouth event this year and who ever wins it will have to not only play very well but get lucky on many occasions.....

100 for the Lowball is a guess, but there was only 46 last year, so I can't think you'd get many players. Plenty of rebuys though at $5000 a time...could be expensive. NL too, rather than the limit you get on Ultimate Bet.

I did not see that it was No Limit as well. That could turn into one expensive comp...

Only if i do well in one of the tournaments before that.
